SPONSOR ME

Woodside are asking people to help their resident animals as they get their sponsorship scheme under way. The Trust re-houses approximately a thousand animals a year and has a specialised old animals unit for cats and dogs.

The Trust sponsorship scheme is unique, being the only local animal home to offer a variety of different animals available for sponsorship, most of which are able to be visited. The types of animal include dogs, cats, pot bellied pigs, sheep, goats and rabbits.

The cost of sponsoring a animal is £40 per year which can be paid monthly or annually. In return you will receive a colour photo and information on the chosen animal, fridge magnet, keyring and two updates on your animal with our summer and winter newsletter.

If you want to go ahead and sponsor any of the animals you can pay monthly or send a one-off payment to the sanctuary.

When you have chosen the animal that you wish to sponsor please click the link below for a sponsorship form to print and return to us.

Tigger

Tigger arrived at the sanctuary many years ago. He is a fantastic lovely natured cat but has one major problem - he sprays all the time.

Although he has been neutered it has not made a difference so he now lives at the sanctuary.

His favourite pastime is doing absolutely nothing, but sunbathing. He loves his food and can always be found hovering near the kitchen at teatime.

Pudding is one of two pigs that live at the centre. He has been with us for nine years since a baby and enjoys roaming free around the sanctuary of an evening.

He can be a little grumpy if he does not get his own way or if his routine changes but this is all part of his fantastic character. He takes after his name in that he loves his food with melon being his favourite treat.

Pudding is happy to see visitors and loves anyone who gives him a sticky bun.

Pudding
pants

Pants is eight years of age and has been at the sanctuary since 2002.

She is incontinent and has free roam of the centre by day but is inside with the other elderly cats at night.

She is extremely friendly and will always say hello to any visitors that she meets.

Billy is a two year old Pygmy goat who's owners moved away and couldn't take him with them.

He enjoys being hand fed but isn't the type of goat which will stand and be petted for long periods of time.

Billy is currently living with three of our resident sheep after losing his two friends in a short space of time.

Billy
Buster

Buster is our newest sheep and has been at the sanctuary for nearly two years after his owner died. He has lots of character and is not at all people scared.

He has been known to butt some members of staff yet will love affection from others.

Ali arrived with us when she was about six months. Her mum was killed by a car and was then hand reared until old enough to come and live with the sheep we had at the centre.

At first the others were a bit confused by her friendly and playful nature.

Now several years on she behaves like a proper sheep and has grown into a beautiful girl.

Ali

Fred is thirteen years of age and has been at the sanctuary since April 2009, after his elderly owner could no longer look after him.  He is very friendly and loves to roam the sanctuary during the day.  Although he lives in the elderly cat unit fred prefers his own company and gets annoyed of the other cats bother him.  Freds favourite place is in the memorial garden where he loves to explore all the different smells.

Big Bill

Big Bill has been at the sanctuary for approximatley two years. He came in with his mum and friend after his owner died and was given to a family member who was not able to keep them.

Big Bill is full of character and loves to get up to any mischief that is possible.

Fallon is Whisper's daughter.  They were all rescued from a farmer but the family were unable to keep them when their circumstances changed.

Fallon is quite timid at the moment but will come to the staff at feeding times.  She is still getting used to her new surroundings and as the photo shows she likes to pull funny faces!!

Baggy is fifteen years of age and came in because his owners were moving.  Baggy is usually very effectionate but he can be a bit grumpy. If you visit him you'll probably find him curled up in the reception next to one of the radiators.

Whisper is a one year old Dartmoor Pony who came in with her daughter and son.  They were rescued by their owners, but then their  circumstances changed.  Fallon is a young adult and and is our latest addition to our large animal section.
