NEWSFLASH

 2011 HOMING FIGURES

The sanctuary successfully rehoused a total of 1123 animals in 2011.  This number includes 585 cats, 317 dogs and 221 small animals including rabbits, guinea pigs and small rodents.

Thank you to everyone who has adopted a animal from us and supported us throughout 2011.

Dumped Dexter

Look into his eyes. This adorable boy was found tied to a park bench. When no-one came back for him all day he was helped by a lady overnight and arrived at Woodside Animal Sanctuary the next day. Efforts have been made by both Woodside and the RSPCA to trace who left him to no avail so now “Dexter” is looking for the forever home he truly deserves.
Carole Bowles MBE, founder of Woodside said “He really is a sweet boy. To have been left how he was, then go to an unusual house, then into a kennel would push many dogs to the limit but Dexter has taken it in his stride. He is friendly to all he has met and has got on well with the dogs he has been introduced to, why anyone would want to abandon him in the way they have is hard to come to terms with, especially when you love animals the way that we do”.

Dexter is looking for a home with an enclosed garden, someone to give him lots of exercise, and to continue to work with him to find out his likes and dislikes.

TRIXIE THE WONDER DOG

Watch out for Trixie's heartwarming story in local and national newspapers.

Eleven year old Trixie arrived here when her owner died and, at eleven years of age, with a large wart and a flea allergy, we thought that she was destined for our resident's unit Dunroamin.  Then along came Georgina looking for a gentle companion to walk with as she has a bad back.  She adopted Trixie and the two are now devoted pals,  Since then Trixie has saved the life of a man who collapsed into a diabetic coma AND bit a mugger trying to steal Georgina's wallet.  So far Trixie has been in the Evening Herald, the Daily Mirror and the Sun  - please let us know if you see her story anywhere else.

WOODSIDE DVD

We now have an hour long DVD explaining our work and showing the Sanctuary, Staff, Volunteers and our Animal stars.  For your complimentary copy, please send us your contact details and one second class stamp.  You are welcome to keep the DVD,  but if you can get others to watch it so much the better.  It would also be ideal for coffee morning etc fundraising.
