Max

Say hello to Max – a small dog with a mighty personality!

Max, a 3 year old Pomski, forms a close bond with people he knows and trusts. But getting close to Max takes time and patience. He is nervous when first meeting new people, which can sometimes result in reactive behaviour. We are working on this and are able to slowly introduce Max to people he doesn’t know.

Max enjoys spending time in our ‘mock room’ having cuddles with staff and regular volunteer dog walkers, and has formed a close bond with one of our long term dog walkers, who spends lots of time with him, working on his training and taking him off-site on day trips.

Max is a clever boy who likes to learn, which is helping with his reactive behaviour towards people and dogs. He is learning to sit and focus on his carers when in situations where he’d normally react. He also loves food, so tasty treats are coming in handy!

Whether it’s chasing a ball, playing in the fields or splashing in the paddling pool, Max loves having fun. He also enjoys going on long walks in the woods – especially if there’s mud involved!

Max would suit an adult-only home in a quieter area. He does have separation anxiety, so is looking for a home where someone is around for most of the day.  Max will need to be muzzled at all times when outside and will need a home with no other pets.

Potential adopters will need to come to the sanctuary to spend time getting to know Max, and will need the time and patience to continue his training.
