Dogs

A recent study in welfare kennels showed that there are noticeable peaks in dogs showing stress when site is open to visitors and that 90% of kennelled dogs were showing this!

Therefore, as of 1st January 2019 after a successful trial, we will be introducing a new procedure for the viewing of dogs by appointment only.  In line with other major animal welfare organisations we will no longer allow public access to our kennel runs.

Viewing will be by appointment only and suitable dog(s) will be brought up for you to meet.  We request that other visitors do not walk around the kennels; all other areas will be open as usual to visitors.

We are hoping that this will not impact on the numbers of our dogs finding new homes but having spoken to other similar organisations this has not been the case, and a tremendous difference has been made to the dogs' welfare.

Please bear with us while we fine tune this system.

All dogs that are adopted from Woodside have to have a pre home visit before going out.  The Trust do not home to a property with no or communual garden.  A garden will need to be fully enclosed with 6ft fencing before a dog is rehoused.

APRIL 2019:  PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO BUILDING WORKS THE SANCTUARY IS OPEN STRICTLY BY APPOINTMENT ONLY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Dogs available for adoption include:

Flitz

Flitz

Flitz currently goes home with one of our dog walkers on the weekends. When in the home he is very well behaved and generally house trained. He shares the house with three other dogs and gets on with them very well.  His foster Mum believes he would be happier living with another dog.Flitz has been with us a long time, he is a loving little dog and we would love for him to find his forever home.

Lady

Lady

Lady is a 6-7 years old Collie cross Staffi.  She is looking for a pet free home with no young children.

Lady has not had the best life and we are told that she was never walked for several years.  She also arrived with a flea allergy which has been left untreated.  This has resulted in her back becoming bald.

She has a very sweet personality and likes to say hello to everyone she sees.  She is a figit who cannot stay still for more than a few seconds but this suits her character.

Due to her past new owners will need to be careful with her around toys and food as she will try to become possessive over them which is understandable considering her backround.  This is something that can be worked with and overcome in time as she settles.

Tina

Tina

Tina is a new intake that has only just arrived.  She is a 5 year old Labrador cross with a lovely sweet personality.

Tina has not been used to living in a home environment so she will need a patient owner with a quiet home, with someone who will allow her time to settle and get used to all things in a home.  She really does have a lovery happy character who will make a lovely companion but she will need encouragement in everyday things like car travel, hoover, washing machine etc.

New owners will also need to give her time to get into a routine with housetraining.  She will go to the toilet when she is outside but she may not know that she shouldn't go inside.  With regular trips and encouragement we are sure she will soon get the idea as she is so eager to please.

She can live with another dog, but no young children or cats.

Ukkie

Ukkie

Ukki is a Podengo mix who is looking for a quiet home with someone who has experience with very nervous dogs.  She is three years of age and could not live with cats or children.

Ukki is extremely scared of everything and has never lived in a home.  New owners will need to give her time and understand that she will hide away for some time until her confidence grows.  This is not going to happen over night so she really is going to need a lot of work.  She is not used to travelling in a car and she will need to be crated in the car to ensure she doesn't bolt when the door is opened.
