Dogs

A recent study in welfare kennels showed that there are noticeable peaks in dogs showing stress when site is open to visitors and that 90% of kennelled dogs were showing this!

Therefore, in line with other major animal welfare organisations we will no longer allow public access to our kennel runs.

Viewing will be by appointment only and suitable dog(s) will be brought up for you to meet.  We request that other visitors do not walk around the kennels; all other areas will be open as usual to visitors..

All dogs that are adopted from Woodside have to have a pre home visit before going out.  The Trust do not home to a property with no or communual garden.  A garden will need to be fully enclosed with fencing suitable for the dog, on average 6ft, before a dog is rehoused.

Dogs available for adoption include:

Bear

Bear

Bear is an Akita cross Malamute, around twelve years of age.  He has been in our care for a couple of years and we would love to see him in a home for his twilight years.

He loves to be with people but does not like other dogs.

Bear needs very little exercise and is just happy to be outside in the garden and have some human company near to him.

Please see further details about him on our Residents page.

Cleo

Cleo

Cleo is a very friendly girl who will be four in May. She is another ex racing greyhound who is looking for her forever home.

She can live with other dogs and children from age five years. Like our other greyhounds she cannot live with cats or small furries and will need to be muzzled when out on walks due to her prey drive.

Cleo has not lived in a home enviroment so will need time to adjust but generally these beautiful dogs make lovely family additions.

Hugo

Hugo

Hugo is a gorgeous 14 month old Akita. He is looking for an experienced owner in his breed who has time to provide him with the further training he needs.  Hugo is a strong boy who doesn't realise his size and strength. He cannot live with dogs but is sociable with most dogs out and about. We are looking for a cat free home with no children under 16 years of age.

Hugo does have a head tilt this could be neurological or most likely stress. There is currently no treatment needed but we just ask new owners to keep an eye on it.

Keeta

Keeta

Keeta is an 8 year old Husky. She is the sweetest girl and just loves human company. Unfortunately she is struggling in kennels as she does suffer from seperation anxiety. She is looking for a home where new owners are home the majority of the time. Keeta needs a routine and would settle very easily in a home, although she can be very anxious at times with new situations. She can't live with dogs or cats but can live with children 5+

Keeta has been spending time in our reception in the afternoons and loves to talk and greet visitors.

Rory and Batty

Rory and Batty

Rory and Batty are jack russell's and they are father and son. Rory is ten years and Batty is eight years. They are very close so would like a retirement home where they can stay together.

Both of these little dog's are so good as they are fine with other dogs and are very well behaved out and about, travel well in the car, house trained, and good around children. [although they have not lived with] Because they are both older they can only be homed to sensible children over the age often years.

They have not lived with cats so would probably chase.

Skye

Skye

Skye is a 2 year old female Lurcher. She is a very sweet girl who loves to play ball. Skye has not had a great start in life, she has had 5 homes through no fault of her own. In her last home the lady was told via the internet that Skye could live with cats but sadly that was untrue so the new owner had to bring her to us.

She would need a home where her owner is home most of the time or she has the company of another dog. She can be destructive if left alone for too long.

Skye has a high prey drive which means she must be muzzled out on all walks. She cannot live with cats or small furries. However she is great with dogs and children and we believe she would make a great family pet.
